Why do we have ASGCC?
ASGCC is the official student government of Glendale
Community College. Its elected officers foster a spirit
of unity among students on campus and maintain a budget
that benefits over one hundred campus departments and
programs. They also serve as the voice of the students
in campus governance committees where policies and rules
are written before they are submitted to the Board of
Trustees for approval.

What are some of the decisions made at ASGCC Legislature
meetings?
ASGCC
has a budget over 320,000 which is used to provide
support to over a hundred campus departments and
programs. They also discuss campus issues that affect
students, and vote on campus governance issues.

What are the responsibilities of ASGCC officers and
committees?
ASGCC officers are sworn in to serve as the voice of the
students of Glendale Community College. They represent
the students in governance committees and ASGCC
Legislature meetings. Each elected officer is required
to attend every legislature meetings, attend committee
meetings designated by the President and Vice
Presidents, and represent the student’s in governance
committee meetings. Aside from attending meetings each
committee has there own responsibilities as stated on

What
are the requirements to join ASGCC?
A
student who pays their student services fee are
automatically a member of ASGCC. To be elected an ASGCC
officer you need to be enrolled in at least
nine
(9) units
and have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above, as well as
meet the requirements stated in the ASGCC Constitution,
Bylaws, and Election Code.

How do I join ASGCC?
There are two ways that you can join ASGCC. One option
is by visiting SC201 to get a petition and run for an
elected position at the end of each semester. The
second option is by making an appointment a
representative position, each semester 5 Representatives
positions are chosen, one for each committee. To find

If I am a member of another club/organization on campus
can I still be a member of the ASGCC Legislature?
Yes
of course you can. We always have members form other
clubs in the legislature. You just have to learn to keep
a good balance between work from your club and ASGCC.

What are Election
Petitions?
Election Petitions allow a student to be put on
the ballot for ASGCC Elections. In order to complete a
petition a student must receive 100 valid signatures
from current GCC students. The Election Petitions also
come with regulations that all candidates must fellow.

When are ASGCC
Elections?
ASGCC elections are held towards the end of fall and
spring semesters.

While in office do I have to meet certain requirements?
You
have to be enrolled in at least 9 units and have to
maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. You also have
to meet the requirements stated in the ASGCC
Constitution and Bylaws.

How many hours a week do I have to put in as an ASGCC
officer?
Depending on what committee you sit on and what position
you hold varies the time you have to put in each week.
On average five to ten hours for Senators, five to
fifteen hours for Vice Presidents and about twenty hours
for the President.

What are some of
the benefits?
There are benefits that come with being ASGCC officers.
You have the opportunity to be involved in decisions
that benefit the entire student body. By becoming
involved you learn what it means to be a team player,
work with a diverse group, and gain experience in real
life government and business situations. The ASGCC
legislature shares a conference room equipped with
computers with Internet access, a phone to do work with,
and cubbies. ASGCC also has a private refrigerator,
microwave, and sink.

Do I get an office?
The
President and Vice Presidents have their own offices in
the J.W Smith Student Center. The Vice President's of
Administration and Finance share one office while the
Vice President's of Campus Activities, Campus Relations,
and Campus Organizations share another. The President
has his own office.
