Physical Education

At Glendale community College, significant emphasis has been placed on the development of the Adapted Physical Education curriculum. Basic to this curriculum is the importance placed on individualized physical activity programs. Although Students enroll in a class, what each student's activity program is composed of varies from individual to individual.

A well-design program of adapted physical education provides many benefits for individuals with disabilities. Participation in adapted physical education programs can: 1) help promote the development of physical fitness and motor skills and necessary for activities of daily living; 2) influence the development of a more positive self-image and feelings of self-worth; and 3) provide avenues for the development of skills and abilities that will enable participation in leisure time activities and recreational pursuits.

Any individual who qualifies for DSPS services may enroll in Adapted Physical Education courses.
