John Rome has been named Head Football Coach for the Vaqueros.  Long time Glendale College assistant coach John Rome was named head coach of the Vaqueros. Rome, a former head coach at Citrus College from 1995-2000, replaces John Cicuto who resigned in December of 2007 after 19 years as head coach and 33 years of coaching football at Glendale. Rome, who was 32-28 for the Owls and was named Foothill Conference Coach of the Year in 1995, has coached as an assistant at Glendale from 1990 to 1994 as offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator and from 2001 to 2007 as the offensive coordinator and assistant head coach. Rome has also coached at UCLA and the University of New Mexico as well as at the high school level at Burbank High.                    In his latest tenure at Glendale, Rome has been instrumental in helping the Vaqueros reach and win the U.S. Bank Beach Bowl in 2001 and the Western State Bowl in 2006 as well as winning the Western State Conference Southern Division Championship in 2005. Since the Vaqueros started playing home games on Sartoris Field in 2005, their record is 23-9 and they have consistently been ranked among the top teams in the state and in Southern California. The Vaquero football program has consistently been known for the number of top quality athletes who matriculate on to the four year level.   The Vaqueros play their home games on campus at Sartoris Field featuring Sprinturf, a state-of-the-art synthetic surface.
