BOARD ACTIONS

 

On November 17, 2003, the Board of Trustees approved:

§         The addition of Anthropology 111: Physical Anthropology Laboratory to the official course offerings.

§         The acceptance of the following contracts as complete: Bid No. 296 – New Construction and Remodel of Science Buildings: General Construction; Bid. No 297 – New Construction and Remodel of Science Buildings: Drywall/Framing/Carpentry; Bid. No. 298 – New Construction and Remodel of Science Buildings: Acoustical Ceilings; Bid. No. 299 – New Construction and Remodel of Science Buildings: Doors and Hardware; Bid. No. 300 – New Construction and Remodel of Science Buildings: Electrical; Bid. No. 301 – New Construction and Remodel of Science Buildings: Mechanical/HVAC; Bid. No. 302 – New Construction and Remodel of Science Buildings: Plumbing; Bid. No 304 – New Construction and Remodel of Science Buildings: Casework; Bid No. 305 – New Construction and Remodel of Science Buildings: Flooring; Bid. No. 307 – New Construction and Remodel of Science Buildings: Landscaping and Bid. No. 308 – New Construction and Remodel of Science Buildings: Painting.

§         An agreement with the Community College League of California to participate in an online collective bargaining database which would provide access to comprehensive statewide information and critical documents on current employee contracts, salary schedules, benefits, job descriptions, organizational charts, grievances, side letters, MOUs, and other reports.

§         Side letter agreements between the District and Glendale College Guild regarding tenured evaluations, salary reduction, and state parity funds, proposed for 2003-04.

 

 In addition:

§         Executive Vice President of Instruction Steve White showed an episode of KCET’s “Life and Times” which aired Friday, Nov. 7. KCET anchor Val Zavala visited campus Nov. 5 to film the segment on the effect of budget cuts on community colleges and interviewed White and Tzoler Oukayan, ASVP - Campus Relations.

§         The Board recognized the newest tenure track faculty member at Glendale College: Roger Dickes, instructor of digital animation.

§         Glendale Community College was ranked 4th in the region for transfers to UCs and CSUs.

§         ASGCC will be holding elections on Tuesday, November 18 and Wednesday, November 19. There is a record number of candidates running at 36.

§         The Senate Holiday Party will take place on December 4.
