The acceptance
of a bid from Systecon in the amount of $228,948.75 for the Water Management
Package Pumping System to be installed at the
§
The acceptance
of a bid from Los Angeles Air Conditioning, Inc. in the amount of $1,348,000
for the ACTC Utility/HVAC Upgrade project. Funds are available in Measure G
Funds for the ACTC Addition and Renovation.
§
A resolution
honoring Mr. Jim Brown, superintendent of the Glendale Unified School District,
upon his retirement. The resolution reads “Glendale Community College salutes
Mr. Brown upon his retirement and expresses heartfelt gratitude for his many
years of service to the youth of Glendale. “ A reception for Mr. Brown was held
after the Board Meeting.

The addition
of the following courses to the official college course offerings: Accounting
170: California Business Taxes; Computer Applications and Business Office
Technologies 285: Microsoft Outlook; and American Sign Language 201: The
Structure of American Sign Language for Professional Interpreters.
§
Voting for
nine candidates running for the California Community College Trustees Board of
Directors. The election for members of the CCCT board of the League is taking
place from March 10 through April 25. There are ten 2-year vacancies on the
board and each member community college district board of the League can vote
for up to ten candidates.
§
The following
faculty be granted advancement in academic rank as follows:

Associate Professor: Sally
Black, Nursing; Francisco Javier Gago, Biology; and Peter Green, Music.
§
Assistant Professor: Laura
Matsumoto, Adapted Computer Technology/Adapted Physical Education; Michael
Moreau, Journalism; and Michael Ritterbrown, English.
§
Adjunct Assistant Professor: Thomas Hogue, Anthropology; and Leon Waszak, History.
§
An agreement
with First United Methodist Church for use of its facilities for non-credit adult
education classes. The cost will be $1500 per semester for classes scheduled on
Mondays from September 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004.
§
An agreement
with Ralphs Educational Consulting Service for professional services at ACTC
for the period of January 26, 2004 through June 30, 2004 at a cost not to
exceed $15,000.
§
The
declaration of various tools and equipment as surplus.

Tartaglia introduced the newest members of the Glendale College Foundation

Realty Services, Inc.

The Board
recognized the newest tenure track faculty member at Glendale College, Isabelle Saber, instructor of mathematics.
·
Vice President of College Services Nancy Knight stated that recent data shows over 60% of high school
students who participate in the Jump Start program later enroll at Glendale
Community College and are retained for their first year.
·
The Aviation
Maintenance program is going to be converted to an evening program, leaving
additional space to be allocated on the first floor of the new Allied Health
building. A proposal for this space will be presented at the next board
meeting.
·
Ten Glendale
Community College students attended the March 15 march to the capitol in
Sacramento.
·
There are
currently thirty student clubs registered on campus, in contrast to only twelve
last year. Club rush is taking place this week.
·
Associated
Students of Glendale Community College have received forty applications
requesting a total of $80,000 for its campus project support program. The group
will allocate $25,000 in grants.
·
Six Glendale
Community College students have been selected for prestigious internships at
JPL.
·
The GCC
Athletic Hall of Fame dinner will take place this Saturday, March 20. Tickets
are still available.
·
On April 8,
Glendale Community College will hold a Latino Issues group meeting to discuss
issues Latino students face in education.
·
On April 9,
the college will host an Armenian Community Relations meeting.
·
Academic
Senate has passed a new program sunset policy.
·
The Guild
completed negotiations on their three-year contract. It will be voted on and
presented at the next Board Meeting.
