Glendale Community College Child Development Department was established in 1940 to prepare students to become teachers, administrators, and advocates for young children and families. In 1990 the Department expanded and added a nationally accredited laboratory school which serves as the hands-on learning site for college students and demonstrating the best of what is known about meeting the needs of young children and families in a group care setting. The Department trains over 400 students annually in entry level teaching to advanced leadership and mentoring courses. The Department oversees a State Preschool program and is one of the model sites for the Los Angeles Universal Preschool pilot program. |
