A clock will never be mistaken for a gold watch and neither will a mug with
the name Glendale Community College on it.
But the small gifts almost mean as much as the watch in terms of
appreciation when they are handed out at the annual
Retirement/Recognition Luncheon, where good will and best wishes are
served up along with a hearty lunch and a grateful thank you from the
college for a job well done.
For almost 20 years, the Retirement/Recognition Luncheon has been a way for
the college to give retirees the send off they deserve and to say thank
you to faculty and staff for their many years of loyal service.
This year's luncheon will take place June 6 at the Student Center Conference
Room and is sponsored by the college's Academic Senate, Alumni
Association, Associated Students, Classified Council, CSEA, Foundation,
Guild and Trustees.
A committee made up of representatives from the sponsor organizations
gathers information provided by Human Resources to honor retiring
college staff and those who have served the college with distinction for
at least 10, 15, and 20 or up to as many as 40 years of service. College
President Dr. John Davitt introduces the honorees and presents them with
a certificate that gives their years of service as well as the
department or division they work in. &
