FOCUS ON FACILITIES

On Sunday, March 19, 2006, GCC warehouse operator Jose Hernandez, his cousin and a neighbor biked in the 21^st annual  Los Angeles Marathon along with a field of world-class athletes and 25,000 runners, walkers and wheelchair athletes. The threesome rode seven-speed mountain bikes and finished the 26.2-mile marathon in one hour and twenty-six minutes.

Hernandez trained three months prior to the event. His training included running the track at GCC three times per week and hitting the GCC fitness center every day. In addition to his daily training, Hernandez entered a 10k run in Long Beach on October 5, 2005.  The trio are planning to run instead of bike in next year’s marathon. &
