Fall fundraising got off to a great start! Toss that shrimp off
the barbie, Paul Hogan. When it comes to the art of barbequeing,
Glendale College has some very talented people waiting in the wings. A
big thank-you must go to Alen Andriassian, Abe Barakat, Jose Hernandez
and Arturo Yepez for doing such a wonderful job over that hot grill.
Our first ever Classified Council BBQ fundraiser was a great success. We
had enthusiastic participation from many departments and divisions. We
could not have done this without the help of the Facilities Department,
especially Louis Garza. Special mention must also go to Merrilee Ahaus,
Armenui Andzhu, Pam Boehret, Dawn Corner, Vivian Darakjian, Wendy Grove,
Gretchen Smart, Andy Stires, and Olga Tovar. We raised $450, so
thank-you to everyone on campus who supported our fundraising efforts.
I am thrilled to announce that our membership
numbers crossed over the century mark. It is still not too late to sign
up for the 05-06 year. Please go to
http://www.glendale.edu/classifiedcouncil to sign up online.
Our resident Halloween guru, anthropologist
Dr. Wendy Fonarow, gave an informative and entertaining lecture on the
Mexican celebration, “Day of the Dead.” Wendy is extremely knowledgeable
on this subject and her wonderful presentation was a delight for all who
attended. Congratulations to Olgar Tovar for winning first prize in the
pumpkin carving competition. Runner up was Jenny McMahon.
The Tupperware fundraiser raised $400 for the
Classified Council Scholarship Fund. Thank you to Vivian Darakjian for
coordinating this event and to those folks on campus who supported us.
Our annual holiday party will take place on
December 7 from 5-9 PM at the Acapulco Mexican Restaurant in Glendale.
Please save the date. Everyone is invited, and remember that Classified
Council members receive a special rate. Please watch your mailbox for an
invitation.
Best wishes for a happy holiday season.]
