Oh! .edu Glendale College has a new name on the Internet, and so do you. Starting today GCC joins the company of other prestigious educational institutions by being granted a hat does this mean, you ask? Well, for starters, it means that you no longer have to use the awkward and much longer domain name of glendale.cc.ca.us. Instead you can now use glendale.edu.

So, go ahead and try it. Point your browser to www.glendale.edu and see what happens. Make it your new default home page. Tell your friends about it.  Realizing that there are two Glendale Colleges in the southwest, we have partnered with Glendale College from the well-respected Maricopa Community College District in Arizona to share an entry page. The first time you go to glendale.edu you will get a choice to select California or Arizona. And you can permanently select Glendale, California by checking the box provided. The new glendale.edu domain is easier to remember and tells the world so much more about us.

What? There's more good news? Indeed there is! You too personally benefit from this new name. Since GCC's domain name has changed, so has your e-mail address. Don't panic; your old address will continue to work just fine, so you won't have to worry about losing any important e-mail. But, you should start getting used to your new e-mail address by changing your return address in your Eudora settings. If your old e-mail address was jdoe@glendale.cc.ca.us, your new address is jdoe@glendale.edu.  Pretty neat, eh? And since the old e-mail address will continue to work for some time to come, you won't have to replace your business cards right away. But for future business card orders, you should specify your new glendale.edu e-mail address.

If you are planning on publishing GCC web locations or GCC e-mail addresses in printed material, please start using the new glendale.edu name now. The online web-accessible faculty/staff directory will reflect the new domain change in your e-mail address listing, and internal links on GCC web pages will be modified to use glendale.edu as well.

You can get assistance changing your Eudora configuration or in setting your browser's default home page by going to www.glendale.edu and selecting “New .edu domain information” or get in touch with the Helpdesk by calling 818-240-1000 x4357(H-E-L-P).

We hope you enjoy your new .edu name. ÿ
