Milestones

Leslie Gregory, who works in the Career Center, will graduate this May with an M.A. in Education, Counseling and Guidance from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego. Congratulations!

Adjunct dance instructor Karyn Klein performed in the piece "Cover Story" with the Collage Dance Theatre in May, 2002. That production has just won the Lester Horton Award in dance.

Nancy Lopez reports that her son, GCC alumnus Paul Lopez, will graduate from the Glendale Police Academy on May 29.  Paul is the husband of former GCC student Yvette Lacarra and father of Nancy's fifth grandchild, Anthony Joseph, born August 23, 2002.

Deborah Moore and two other instruction librarians from New York and  New Jersey presented at the ACRL national conference in Charlotte, NC in April 2003. The title of their session was "Information Literacy Models: Practical Ways to Integrate Information Literacy into the Curriculum on a Shoestring Budget." The Association of  College and Research Libraries is the oldest and most prestigious organization in its field, and presentations by community college libraries are rare at its national conference, so this was a great honor for GCC.

Mona Field won reelection to the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees in the runoff on May 20, polling 64 percent of the vote. Congratulations, Mona!
