Marisa, the daughter of Angela and Nino Battaglia, will marry Andrew Cohen on November 4 at La Venta Inn, Palos Verdes. Marisa completed her master’s from Pepperdine last January and teaches second grade at a Glendale Elementary School.

Sue Brinkmeyer’s book, Dewey and the Decimals, co-authored by Sue’s husband, Kent Brinkmeyer, and her college friend, Paige Taylor, has been published by Highsmith Press. It's an activity and game book intended for use by elementary school teachers and librarians as they introduce children to library and research skills.

Jessica Gillooly’s book, Before She Gets Her Period, has been selected as a 2001 NAPPA Parenting Resources Gold Award winner. A review of the book appears on the web site: Parenthoodweb.com

Ken Gray’s new play, Collision Course, is in rehearsal and going up at Ventura College November 9 through 18. The play is directed by Judy Garey, chair of the theatre arts department at Ventura College. It is a portrait of that area and features a talented multi-cultural, multi-ethnic cast of performers.

Lina Gupta has been awarded a full Fulbright scholarship to study Hindu goddesses in India.

Murray Levy of the Business Division has been elected President of The California & Internship Association for 2001-2002. Also, in his community he has been elected Vice Chair of The Natural Resources Commission of South Pasadena.

Maryl Jo Fox Peltzie, former tenured English instructor from 1990-97, has been named a finalist for the 200l James Kirkwood Prize in Creative Writing, an annual award given through the UCLA Writers' Program. In addition, a story/performance piece of hers will appear in the forthcoming anthology, Sips from the Volcano; New Fiction from Los Angeles.
