Wow, how time flies!
I hope that everyone experienced the start of a great semester.
Our October meeting featured a special presentation by Dr. Wendy
Fonarow who shared with us the origin of Halloween and of Jack ’O
Lanterns. Our presentor’s knowledge on the topic was quite extensive;
her master’s degree is actually on the subject of Halloween!
Also, eight creatively carved pumpkins were submitted to our pumpkin
contest. First prize winner was Arturo Yepez of Admissions and Records
and second prize winner was myself! That was a lot of fun! Finally, our
grand raffle winner of the month was Scott Rubke of the Aviation
department who, by the way, graciously offered his winnings ($77)
towards the Classified Council Student Scholarship fund. Thank you for
your generosity Scott!
November’s highlight is the Tupperware fundraiser organized by
Vivian Darakjian from the Library. Fifty percent of the sales will go
towards our Student Scholarship fund. Thank you Vivian for your time and
support!
Yes, the holidays are just around the corner, and I want to take
this opportunity to invite everyone to our upcoming holiday party on
December 11 at Milano’s restaurant in Glendale. This special evening
includes a delicious dinner and many wonderful door prizes for everyone!
This special holiday dinner will be
$20 for Classified Council members and $25 for non-members. Everyone is
welcome! We’ll be distributing special flyers with all the details
soon! &
Please save December 11 on your calendar so we can capture a special
moment together!
