CLASSIFIED COUNCIL CORNER
by Henan Joof, Classified Council President

Henan Joof

Happy Holidays, dear campus community. On behalf of the entire Classified Council board, I would like to wish you a marvelous holiday season.

Please don’t forget to submit your membership dues for the 2007/2008 year.  The cost is still only $8, and to make things easier you can submit your membership electronically, by visiting our website at www.glendale.edu/classifiedcouncil.

The Classified Council’s main priority is to fundraise for student scholarships. In that effort we will be holding a See’s candy fundraiser, starting in November and running through the beginning of

December.  Please consider purchasing a few boxes from us. Not only are these candies quite delicious, but the price is most reasonable. Plus, you get to help out a deserving student at the same time.

This year our Halloween Costume and Department competition brought out the “scary & creative” side of us. The judges had a great time making rounds and taking pictures of all the well-thought-out disguises. If you missed them, please visit our website for a collage of the pictures.

On a serious note, we would like to bring your attention to the California Community College Initiative (Prop 92). Although the Classified Council seldom gets involved in the

political and legislative realm, we do feel as a board that this initiative is a must win for the entire college. I am sure other constituencies have already publicized it, but please make sure to spread the word about Prop 92 and make your way to the polls on February 5.

Our Annual Holiday party is going to be held on December 13 at Don Cuco’s in Glendale, and we are hoping you can join us for a fun evening with all your GCC work colleagues. We will also be sending this information via email and flyers in your mailboxes. Please watch your email for further details.
