CSEA on the Go:
Board Elections, Spring Retreat
Thanks to Staff Development,
the CSEA Retreat was approved for this school year.
So as to have less impact on the students, the two-day
trip will take place during spring break.
Please contact the CSEA Executive Board with your
suggestions regarding dates and speakers.
Also, be sure to give us ideas about what you would like
to learn more about.
Faculty, managers, or one of our own classified employees can
conduct workshops on subjects and/or issues relevant to the
college. We will
have the CSEA Labor Relations Representative, Matt Gentile, who
will educate us on our contract.
Many of you who attended last year learned a great deal
about your rights as a CSEA member.
I
would like to thank those of you who already made personal
donations towards Proposition 92.
CSEA has received over two thousand dollars in regards to
this initiative.
Time is running out and funds are needed today to let voters
know the importance of the initiative.
If you have not contributed, please send your donations
to the CSEA Treasurer, Margaret Nadir.
At our chapter meeting in October, we took nominations for the
CSEA Executive Board. In November, we will have one more meeting
at the Garfield campus where we will again be accepting
nominations. The
election date is Wednesday, December 19, 2007.
We are proud to report that over 80 classified employees
participated in a workshop, facilitated by Jill Lewis,
discussing various checklists from the new four standards in
preparation for the 2010 Accreditation site visit.
Negotiations have begun and we will update the membership on the
progress in the next issue of the CSEA newsletter
Spirit of 76.

In Unity,
