Marketing Bug Moving into the Community

by Alex Leon,  Office of Communications, Marketing and Foundation

As everyone knows, credit enrollment is the heart of our college budget.  Nonetheless, GCC also fulfills its mission by offering non-credit adult courses, fee-based community service classes, Professional Development Center programs, and an array of cultural events for our community.  In order to promote a unified image of our college, the Marketing department has created a new “Bug” which incorporates our logo and small boxes which reference all of our services.

Marketing Bug

The GCC marketing bug is to be included on:

· All mass mailing

· Internal/external fliers

· Programs for events

· Paid ads if appropriate and there is space available

· District stationery

· Marketing bugs are not appropriate for on-line banner ads (the purpose is to click on an ad and link to website.)

· Marketing bugs are not appropriate for mini brochures because of space limitations.

GRAPHIC WITH TAG LINE

A tag line may be added to the GCC marketing bug if applicable. The tag line might be a statement such as:

· Register now

· Applications currently being accepted

· First Summer Session begins June 18

The tag lines and the language are at the discretion of the originator of the piece and may relate to the purpose of the piece.

Priority statements are a global message about the college such as:

· Beginning of semester or registration in progress

· Applications now being accepted

Other information

· Language for the noncredit option is, “free noncredit courses for adults’’

· Marketing materials funded by categorical/grant programs must include name of funding source when appropriate.
