Calling all Alumni and Friends to Glendale College

by Alex Leon, Office of Communications, Marketing, and Foundation

On Sunday September 28th, over 500 people gathered to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Glendale Community College as well as to dedicate the Cimmarusti Science Center and to honor Dr. Davitt for his years as Superintendent/President of the college.

The feeling of love and support for the college was seen on the faces of everyone as they looked at the beautiful new science center and planetarium as well as many of the improvements that have significantly changed the appearance of the campus.

Many of the people in attendance were members of two campus organizations that were created to support this type of event and many others on campus: the college’s Alumni Association and the newly formed Friends of the Glendale College Science Center.

The Glendale Community College Alumni Association was established in 1988 as an organization of people who desired to serve and support the college.  A newsletter highlighting alumni activities is published periodically, and information regarding alumni events on campus is made available through a mailing list of over 7,000 names.

A new marketing plan is being created for the Alumni Association that is intended not only to increase membership in the organization, but also to get more people involved in the college.

Much like the Alumni Association, the newly formed Friends of the Science Center has been created to support the science center and its activities aimed at educating K-12 students and teachers as well as the community about the wonders of science.

Annual membership starts at just $25 and includes a special periodic newsletter and information about public shows and other events.

Please call Barbara Jordan at (818) 551-5201 for information about joining the Alumni Association or becoming a Friend of the Science Center. &
