CLASSIFIED COUNCIL CORNER
by Henan Joof, Classified Council President

Henan Joof

Seems as though the beginning of the fall semester came and went by ages ago. Nevertheless, I would to welcome you all back to yet another “eventful” year here at Glendale College.  Classified Institute Day was observed on August 27, and it was without a doubt a great success. Many thanks go to the planning committee members for an amazing event.

I hope that by now many of you have received and returned the membership brochures to us, but if not, please feel free to contact any of us to get a copy. Being a Classified Council Board member is voluntary, and we rely on you to make every event a success. The small $7 membership fee does not allow us to fund all our philanthropic activities, so your support of our fundraising events is greatly appreciated.

Besides Classified Institute Day, which we had the privilege of co-sponsoring with CSEA, a few upcoming events that you’ll notice us participating in are the See’s Candy drive, Classified Week, the Annual Retirement/Recognition Event and the Classified Holiday Party.

Stay tuned for our lecture series this semester, as we are working hard to bring you a variety of topics and interests. Halloween is also right around the corner, and you can expect our traditional Best Decorated Office contest. On Thursday, October 30, GCC resident Halloween expert Dr. Wendy Fonarow will be making the rounds of the offices that wish to participate. Prizes will be awarded for the top three office disguises.

If I am not a familiar face to you on campus, please feel free to stop by SM 266 and introduce yourself.  If you have any suggestions for activities that the council can sponsor, please e-mail me at hjoof@glendale.edu.
