Greetings, readers! I trust
you are enjoying the fall weather and gearing up
for the Halloween/Thanksgiving season. I hope
that our efforts as your board have helped make
this semester move along quite enjoyably. Thank
you to all you participated in our online
survey. The results are being used to help us
better plan future Classified Council
activities.
Our
lecture series was kicked off by Mike Reed’s
presentation, “The Greening of GCC,” on
September 24 in CR 137 from 12–1pm. The lecture
was so well attended, and the interest so
enthusiastic, that a follow-up is in the works,
possibly for the spring semester. Mike Reed, as
Sustainability Coordinator for GCC, infected his
listeners with his passion for the Earth and all
of its inhabitants. Our second lecture was “A
Holistic Approach to Child Nutrition,” presented
by Garland Zinn on Thursday, October 15. With
childhood obesity on the rise and habits being
formed at an early age, this lecture was very
informative and provided myriad tools for
participants.
Our Halloween Costume and
Department competition is being planned, and you
can expect a few informational emails from me
about the event. I hope your “scary and
creative” side is ready for the challenge. You
can expect someone from our Board or the judges
to come around your area on the date of the
event.
Keep your eyes out for our
holiday season See’s candy fundraiser. More
details to come in the November article. Have a
great Halloween. |
