Committees and Their Functions
AWARDS COMMITTEE

To recognize individuals or groups from two year institutions as well as institutions themselves that have demonstrated significant achievement in the areas of: (1) Program Development and (2) Leadership or Community Service.

BIBLIOGRAPHIC INSTRUCTION COMMITTEE

To identify, collect, and evaluate methods and programs of instruction and use as an integral part of the curriculum in all two-year college libraries and media centers.

CONFERENCE PROGRAM PLANNING COMMITTEE

To plan the program and to handle local arrangements for the Community and Junior College Libraries Section at the Annual Conference.

LIBRARY RESOURCES REVIEW COMMITTEE

To encourage the reviewing of materials of interest to community, technical and junior college libraries.

LIBRARY/MEDIA TECHNICIAN TRAINING COMMITTEE

To explore, collect and disseminate information on Library Technical Assistant Training Programs; to provide channels of communications for sharing information on these programs; to explore establishing liaisons with Library Technical Assistant organizations; to investigate developing guidelines and standards for Library Technical Assistant Programs; to encourage publication of textbooks and other training materials.

MEMBERSHIP/COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

To increase the personal membership of the Section and to encourage participation in the Section and ACRL. Also to form communication links for the Section and to distribute information relative to two-year college librarians and libraries.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE

To nominate candidates for elective positions. The Committee is comprised of three Section members appointed by the incoming Chair of CJCLS who selects the Chair of the Committee. The Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect may not serve on this committee. The Nominating Committee Chair may represent CJCLS on the ACRL Appointments and Nominations Committee if recommended by the Section Chair and appointed by the ACRL President.

PLANNING AND PROCEDURES COMMITTEE

To do long-range planning, to recommend activities, and to propose revisions in the Bylaws of the Section. The Committee is comprised of a Chair and at least three others. The Past-Chair of the Section and the Handbook Editor customarily serve as members of this Committee. The Committee will include a balance between persons who have had experience and involvement in Section activities and those who have potential for involvement in the future.

RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS COMMITTEE

To monitor, facilitate, encourage and support research and publication activities of the section: to provide policies, formats and guidelines to assist members in researching issues and publishing reports and articles; to establish contact with other ACRL committees with similar interests. The committee is comprised of the Chair and at least four other members.

TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE

To explore, collect and disseminate information on new technologies and their application for community and junior college learning resource centers; to provide channels of communication for sharing this information with the goal of developing optimal application of these new technologies to a broad range of community and junior colleges; and to establish liaison with and work with other groups within and outside CJCLS having similar concerns about the utilization of new technologies in libraries.
