The following vocational
Certificate of Completion programs have been approved by the
Chancellor’s Office of California.
Business Education - Vocational Certificate Programs
Account Clerk I -
The program prepares student for entry-level account clerk or
bookkeeping positions.
This series of courses allows students to review basic math, study
the full cycle of accounting and financial statements, use
QuickBooks and Peachtree, develop written and verbal communication
skills, file alphabetically and numerically, and use Excel
spreadsheets. In addition, students attain skill development in
keyboarding through speed drills. Students also learn strategies
for creating a resume and preparing for a job interview.
This program provides the foundation for preparing students for
Account Clerk II.
The core requirements include nine courses. There are no
electives. Students must satisfactorily complete all nine courses
to be awarded a certificate of completion. Students completing
this program will be well prepared to enter a college level

Account Clerk II - This program prepares students for bookkeeping, accounting, and
reconciling positions.
The series of courses allows students to learn advanced
accounting techniques, advanced computerized accounting systems,
and the advanced use of Excel spreadsheets; attain skill
development in keyboarding through speed drills and the production
of reports and other business documents; and develop customer
service skills.
Successful completion of Account Clerk I, or the equivalent, is
required for entry into this program.
The core requirements include seven courses and one elective.
Students must satisfactorily complete all eight courses to be
awarded a certificate of completion. Students completing this
program would be well prepared to matriculate to a college-level
business management program.

Dental Front Office Clerk - This program prepares students for front office work in a
dentist’s office.
This series of courses provides an opportunity for students to
learn dental terminology, head and throat anatomy, dental billing
and coding, administrative duties, legal requirements on reporting
and patient privacy, and dental transcription. Students gain basic
keyboarding and computer application skills as well as oral
communication and general customer service skills. They also learn
how to create a resume and prepare for a job interview.
The core requirements include nine courses. There are no
electives. Students must satisfactorily complete all nine courses
to be awarded a certificate of completion.

General Office Clerk I - This program prepares students for entry-level work in an office
setting.
This series of courses allows students to develop skills in
keyboarding, enhance verbal communication skills, file
alphabetically and numerically, and attain the basics of
computerized word processing. It provides the foundation for
preparing students for General Office Clerk II. Student will also
learn strategies for creating a resume and preparing for a job
interview.
This program is the first in a series of three programs in the
office clerk area.
The core requirements include nine courses. There are no
electives. Students must satisfactorily complete all nine courses
to be awarded a certificate of completion. Students completing
this course will be prepared to enter a college-level course of
study in business.

General Office Clerk II - This program prepares students for independent work in an office
setting.
Participants gain a broad background in business math,
calculators, computer applications, and business writing which
provides them with the ability to work in most office departments.
Students attain skill development in keyboarding through speed
drills and the production of reports and other business documents;
develop verbal and written communication skills, including memo
writing; and improve their customer service skills. Successful
completion of General Office Clerk I, or the equivalent, is
required for entry into this program.
This program is the second in a series of three programs in the
office clerk area.
The core requirements include seven courses. There are no
electives. Students must satisfactorily complete all seven courses
to be awarded a certificate of completion. Students completing
this program will be well prepared to matriculate to a
college-level administrative assistant program.

General Office Clerk III - This program prepares students for work as an administrative
assistant or secretary.
This series of courses allows students to gain advanced
keyboarding and computer application skills as well as the
fundamentals of accounting. Students also learn the format and
content of business letters. Successful completion of General
Office Clerk II, or the equivalent, is required for entry into
this program.
This program is the capstone in a series of three programs in the
office clerk area.
The core requirements include four courses and one elective.
Students must satisfactorily complete all five courses to be
awarded a certificate of completion. Students completing this
program will be well prepared to matriculate to a college-level
business management program.
