Pharmacy Technician Training Program

According to the US Department of Labor, the need for Pharmacy Technicians is expected to grow nearly 30% by 2012. Pharmacy Technicians are in demand! This course is designed to prepare you for eligibility to become a Registered Pharmacy Technician in the State of California. Discover a stable and lucrative career by taking our weekend or evening course designed for busy adults. As a Pharmacy Technician you will help the pharmacist package or mix a prescription, maintain client records, refer clients to the pharmacist for counseling, assist with inventory control and purchasing, as well as collect payment and coordinate billing. The course combines 182 hours of classroom instruction with a 160 hour pharmacy externship to provide you with a complete learning experience. Estimated starting pay is $10-$20 per hour. Upon completion you will receive a certificate of completion and become eligible to apply for registration as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of California. You must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or its equivalent. The class fee covers books, supplies, externship, and course completion certificate. Optometric Technician Training

Train for a new career as a professional Optometric Technician. The Optometric Technician (Optical Assistant, or Ophthalmic Technician) works under the supervision of a licensed eye care professional. Optometric Technicians assist in testing patients’ vision, providing frame styling services, and instructing patients in contact lens handling. They administer vision therapy programs prescribed by the licensed eye care professional. This course combines 140 hours of classroom instruction (20 weeks) with an off-site 120 hour hands-on externship training. The demand for this profession is excellent, with starting pay from $12- $16 per hour. The course fee covers your books, supplies, and externship.

Pressure points are painful areas of locked up energy. They make you feel tired, stiff and sore. Common pressure points are found in the neck, between the shoulder blades and the lower back. Pressure Point Masssge dissolves these points, relaxing and rejuvenating the body. In this hands on class, you'll learn how to find these areas and relieve the pain. Pressure Point massage can be done anywhere. As this is a hands-on workshop, you will need a partner to register with you. Bring a friend, family member, or co-worker whom you can share massages. Dr. Stan Gale's career of 22 years has been helping people become healthier naturally. His Pressure Point workshop is a very effective treatment he has been teaching to his patients for over 10 years.

Clinical Medical Assistant Training

In this course, designed for busy adults, you will be trained to work in a Doctor’s office or clinical setting. A Clinical Medical Assistant works in the back office and assists the physician with procedures, cares for patients, performs simple laboratory tests and administers medications. The course
combines classroom instruction of 134 hours, and off-site externship of 160 hours to provide students with a comprehensive learning experience. This program satisfies all training guidelines established by the State of California Medical Board Assistant Association (CMAA) and graduate will be qualified to apply for optional certification. It is recommended that you be at least 18 years of age and have completed high school or its equivalent. Students need competency in or completion of a basic computer operations course. The course fee covers books, supplies, externship, and course completion certificate.

Phlebotomy Certification Course

Current Online Catalog Listing & Registration: Course Code 09WBU151

A Phlebotomist draws blood from patients in hospitals and medical labs, explains procedures, and practices safe techniques for storing blood samples. This course combines 48 hours of classroom instruction with a 40 hour phlebotomy externship to provide you with a complete learning experience. You will become proficient in venipuncture with syringe, vacutainer, butterfly and fingerstick methods. Class lectures cover the theory, anatomy and terminology pertaining to the cardiovascular system. Upon completion of the program, you will qualify to apply to the State of California as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT 1). It is recommended that you be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma, or it’s equivalent. The course fee covers books, supplies, externship, and course completion certification. Basic Life Support Class: Level C

Current Online Catalog Listing & Registration: Course Code 00WSI029

This course is recommended for healthcare providers. The class consists of a detailed lecture, demonstrations, video and mannequin practice covering the following: Adult CPR, Child/Infant CPR, two person CPR, mouth-to-mask use, choking procedures, and prevention of disease transmission. You will receive an American Heart Association certification card that is good for two years. A $20 materials fee is payable to the instructor in class. Lucian Badica is the Community Service District Manager for West Med Ambulance Service and certified trainer with AHA. Register early, each class is limited to 15 students.

Meet the instructor for a 15-minute orientation to receive class material and information on using the software (Windows 98 or above required.) Pre-Requisites

There are no pre-requisites for our courses. However, it is recommended that students be at least 18 years of age and have completed high school or its equivalent. You will be required to pass an English language and math prescreening prior to final admittance into any course. This prescreening will be administered on the first day of class. Ask our office for a practice sample test or download a sample exam below. If you do not pass the exam you may request a full refund of feed paid, minus $10.

Cancellation Policy

In the event that the college cancels a program, you will receive a full refund. Should you need to cancel your registration, you must do so in writing 5 business days prior to the start date of your class. A $25 processing fee will be deducted from the refund should you cancel. There are no refunds after a class has started.
