Flavio Frontini

Italian Language

A.A., Santa Monica College

B.A.,M.A., University of California, Los Angeles

Flavio Frontini is originally from Bologna, Italy, but has lived in Los Angeles for the last 17 years. He is passionate about his culture and loves to teach his first language at Glendale College. Some of his interests include food (yes Italian), both eating and cooking, traveling, art, classical music, and opera. He earned a B.A. in Italian and M.A. in Italian Literature at U.C.L.A., and is credited with co-editing the book La lotta con Proteo : metamorfosi del testo e testualita` della critica. Flavio Frontini describes himself to his students as the "crazy" professor for the informal style he uses to conduct his classes. He believes that laughter is the best way to learn and that everybody should make mistakes in order to learn. By the end of the semester the students are eager to participate in the class discussions and they are often as crazy as he is! He has been to Italy twice with students from Los Angeles for the Summer Study Abroad program and he will return again in Summer 2007.

Mr. Frontini is the proud recipient of the 2007 National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award for his outstanding leadership and teaching skills.
