CABOT 90 – Self- Paced Introduction to Adapted Word Processing

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon Successful Completion of the Course:

1. Student will demonstrate appropriate use of lab resources (e.g., handouts, and/or manuals and instructional support.

2. Student will develop and demonstrate competency in the independent use of any appropriate assistive technologies and any other adaptations necessary to successfully access the computer.

3. Student will demonstrate the ability to independently perform: basic start-up procedures, basic Windows-based application program commands and appropriate use of personal data storage devices.

4. Student will demonstrate the ability to independently produce electronic documents utilizing basic preparation techniques (e.g., create, save, edit, format, print) using a word processing program.

 

CABOT 91 – Introduction to Word Processing for Students with Visual Impairments

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon Successful Completion of the Course:

1. Student will identify and describe appropriate assistive technologies/devices and alternate text formats which address his/her needs.

2. Student will demonstrate efficient and appropriate use of course-related resources (eg: handouts and/or manuals and instructional support).

3. Student will develop and demonstrate competency in the efficient and independent use of appropriate assistive technologies and any other adaptations required to access the computer.

4. Student will demonstrate the ability to independently perform: basic start-up procedures, basic Windows-based application program commands and appropriate use of personal data storage.

5. Student will demonstrate the ability to independently create, save, modify, spellcheck and print documents using a word processing program and appropriate assistive technology.

 

CABOT 92 – Introduction to Adapted Word Processing

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon Successful Completion of the Course:

1. Student will demonstrate efficient and appropriate use of course-related resources (eg: handouts and/or manuals and instructional support).

2. Student will develop and demonstrate competency in the efficient and independent use of appropriate assistive technologies and any other adaptations required to access the computer.

3. Student will demonstrate the ability to independently perform basic start-up procedures, basic Windows-based application program commands and appropriate use of personal data storage

4. Student will demonstrate the ability to independently perform : Basic word processing commands (e.g. file management, spell checking and proofing, special text formats, alignments, formatting documents, etc.) and apply the relevant concepts to the preparation of documents in a variety of formats (including standard research paper format).

 

CABOT 93- Adapted Computer Lab (Independent Study)

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon Successful Completion of the Course:

1. Student will identify and describe appropriate assistive technologies/devices and alternate text formats which address his/her needs.

2. Student will demonstrate efficient and appropriate use of lab resources (eg: handouts and/or manuals and instructional support).

3. Student will demonstrate increased competency in the efficient and independent use of appropriate assistive technologies/devices and application programs.

4. Student will demonstrate the ability to independently use computer application programs and apply the basic concepts of document preparation to complete assignments in other courses or projects involving daily living skills development.

 

CABOT 94- Advanced Adapted Applications

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon Successful Completion of the Course:

1. Student will demonstrate efficient and appropriate use of course-related resources (e.g.: handouts and/or manuals and instructional support).

2. Student will develop and demonstrate competency in the efficient and independent use of appropriate assistive technologies and any other adaptations required to access the computer.

3. Student will demonstrate the ability to independently perform: a) certain advanced word processing software commands (e.g. create & modify data tables, create envelopes and labels, and use mail merge, etc.), b) basic Windows file management (e.g. delete files, create new folders, copy files, etc.), and c) basic spreadsheet/database software operations (e.g. create & modify worksheets, use formulas and functions, etc.).
