Thank you for taking the time to visit the Verdugo Fire Academy at
Glendale Community College. The connection to the firefighters of
tomorrow. Verdugo Fire Academy is a California State Board of Fire
Services and California State Fire Marshal's regional certified academy.
Graduates of the program will receive the California State Fire
Marshal's approved firefighter 1 curriculum, which includes more than
800 hours of both academic and hands-on training. The successful
graduate will earn their basic firefighter 1 training record and several
certifications approved by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
The Basic Fire Academy is currently offered as an extended program on
Thursday nights and weekends to allow working students to attend.
Class XII starts on January 3, 2009. The
next academy will begin in January 2010. We are currently taking
applications for this class.
Applications are accepted all year long, However the last date to apply
for Class XIII starting in January 2010 is December 1, 2009.
Monthly orientations for our program are held on the first Thursday of
every month at 7 p.m. at Glendale Community College at 1500 Verdugo Road
in Glendale, in the Advanced Technology Building, Room AT 229.
