TENTATIVE AGREEMENT PACKAGE RATIFIED

Our Guild Election Committee reports that there were 223 valid ballots cast in the ratification vote on the results from the recently concluding round of negotiations.  The tentative agreements made in that round were approved by a 215 to 8 margin and, having already been ratified by the district's Board of Trustees, are now in effect.  Paychecks should reflect the raises negotiated starting on June 1, and it is hoped that "retro" checks covering the period back to July 1, 2006 will be available by the end of June.

END OF YEAR PARTY

While we're on the subject of good news, let me give the first of what will be several reminders that the Guild-sponsored End Of Year party will be held, as usual, after Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, June 9.  This may be the last year of this classic format for the party, since we have approved an academic calendar for next year where the 2008 Commencement ceremonies will be on a Friday evening instead.  If you have any suggestions for this year's party, contact coordinator extraordinaire Lynn Pomeroy, who continues to do the bulk of the work related to planning this party as a volunteer.  Yay, Lynn!!

CFT's RAOUL TEILHET SCHOLARSHIPS

Continuing college students who are children or dependents of CFT members like yourselves, or children of deceased CFT members are eligible to apply for these scholarships named after CFT's charismatic leader during the 1970's, Raoul Teilhet.  Applications and additional information may be obtained from their website (www.cft.org), and I have some in my office.  The deadline to apply is July 1, 2007, and awardees will receive $3000 if attending a four-year university or $1000 if attending a two-year school.

Solidarity,

MIKE ALLEN
GUILD PRESIDENT
