121 History of Rock Music (3 Units)
Music 121 is a course in the evolution of popular music in the United States since World War II. Students first study the musical influences which led to the rise of Rock and Roll in the mid-1950s. They then follow the development of the various musical styles which are collectively referred to as rock music. Emerging musical innovations are viewed as reflections of changes within our society. Lecture 3 hours. Prerequisite: None. Transfer credit: CSU, UC, USC
