Adjunct Faculty Ancillary Stipends

Amount:  $250-1,000

Per the Guild contract, the District sets aside $10,000 each year to fund adjunct stipends for “ancillary activities,” a.k.a. “projects or activities outside of classroom duties.” 

Deadlines:  An announcement is sent out via GCC email at the start of each fall semester, and, if funding it still available, at the start of the spring semester as well. For further information, contact Alfred Ramirez, Associate Dean of Continuing & Community Education, at aramirez@glendale.edu.

Landmarks of American History and Culture: Workshops for Community College Faculty

Amount:  $1,200

These one-week programs allow community college faculty to travel to specific landmarks and be exposed to leading site-specific scholarship.  Participants are enabled to advance their own scholarship and enhance teaching materials.

Deadlines:  Check their site in the fall.  Deadlines are usually at the start of March for programs that run in June, July and August of the same year.

Summer Seminars and Institutes for College and University Faculty

Amount:  $2,100-4,500 

These highly competitive grants provide opportunity for college and university faculty to spend 2-6 weeks (in the US and abroad) studying humanities topics with leading academics in their field.  The locations and subjects of scholarship change yearly.

Deadlines:  Check their site in the fall.  Deadlines are usually at the start of March for programs that run in June, July and August of the same year.
