Glendale continued their dominance with a 8-1 win over Mount San Antonio College today at Glendale Community College. The Vaqueros opened up their first home match of the season with strong wins from Hosep Orojian 6-1, 6-2, Dat Le 6-0, 6-0, Cameron Braun 6-0, 6-0, and Santiago Segovia 6-1, 6-2. Dermegerdichian pulling out a exciting third set match going 18-16 in the third set super tie break. "That was one of the longest super tie breaks I have seen here at Glendale College" said Bob Mackay. "We just have to remember that we have to play our games and focus on each and every point". Oleg Simonyan also pulled out another close match winning 6-4, 7-6.
In doubles Le/Orojian teamed up winning 8-4 at number 1 doubles. "We definitely have been playing better each match we play" said Dat Le who finished ranked 4th in the ITA preseason rankings. "I think were both understanding each other better in doubles and understanding how we can complement each other at the net." At number 3 doubles Pauff/Braun teamed up winning 8-3. "Were both playing good tennis, I think we both feel good on how were playing right now" said Cameron Braun who is ranked 8th in doubles with teammate Clayton Pauff.
Next week Glendale will take on Riverside Community College on February 11 and College of the Desert on February 13th. "Riverside is going to be tough" said Bob Mackay. "They have had two good wins against Cerritos and Mt.San Jacinto College. I think our guys know what they have to do on Tuesday and I know we will have chances if we play the way I know our guys can".
