Biography

Throughout my professional career, I have had experience developing architectural projects from schematic phase to finished construction and finished interiors.

My professional working experience includes architectural and interior design of:

  • Commercial, residential, and industrial buildings;
  • Educational institutes and prototype restaurant projects; and
  • A municipal recreational facility remodel project.
Learning and Teaching Methods

Students will learn through lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops, field trips, demonstrations, and computer laboratory activities. Students will present their projects and critique other students’ work in a classroom environment. In a professional and creative setting, students will also learn how to communicate their design ideas through manual sketching and computer-drawing programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and 3D StudioMax.

My Teaching Philosophy

The philosophy of my teaching is to encourage creative thinking together with the development of professional skills. Emphasis is placed on professionalism, creative learning, and developing an inspiring environment for students. I want my students to: develop their sense of wonder and interpretation, and figure out what is worthy of belief and action – I feel that this is the birthright of all students, both young and old.

Experience

Prior to coming to Glendale Community College, I taught at Yerevan State University of Architecture and Construction in their Architecture Department. In 2014 I was hired as a part-time instructor at Glendale Community College in the Architecture Department. I currently teach the Architecture 141 - Interior Design Class and I also am a freelance architectural and interior designer practicing in South California.
