Guide to Searching ESL Collection
To search for a list of all Graded Readers
- Go to the Basic Search screen
- Type in “L1”
- Select Call Number Search
- Click on the Search button
This search will retrieve ESL graded readers arranged by call number order.

To search for ESL titles by author
- Go to the Basic Search screen
- Type in author's last and first names
- Select Author Search
- Select ESL from the drop down Limit To (optional) menu
- Click on the Search button
To search for a list of all ESL non-fiction titles
- Open the OPAC to the Advanced (Keyword) Search screen
- Type in “ESL collection”
- Select Subject in the Search in box
- Click on the Search button
This search will retrieve all ESL non-fiction (i.e., not Graded Readers).

To search for a specific title, try a combination search
- Go to the Advanced (Keyword) Search screen
- Type in the desired call # (i.e., “L1”) or level (i.e., “Level 1”), and “Search in” Keyword Anywhere.
- Enter title (select Title in the “Search in” box). Alternatively, you can also search for a specific author here.
- Click on the Search Button
Note: when doing an Advanced (Keyword) Search to locate ESL books by Level, it is best to do a combination search (i.e., Level # and Title, or Level # and Series, or Level # and author, etc.).

To search for Graded Readers by Series
- Go to the Advanced (Keyword) Search screen
- Type in the name of the series and select Series from the dropdown “Search in” box.
We currently have the following series, which can be searched in combination with level, title, or author.
