Glendale College has counseling services to help students have a successful college experience. One important aspect of having students receive the best possible advice concerning educational and career goals involves working with counseling services. Our counselors assist students in dealing with most problems and concerns that may interfere with their success.

Counseling and Academic Advisement are available on a drop-in basis for quick questions or 30 minute appointments. To schedule an appointment please call (818) 240-1000, ext. 5918.

Other academic counselors are located in the Center for Students with Disabilities and in the Educational Opportunity Program and Services for students eligible for these two special programs.

Counselors can help students
  • Explore career, educational, and personal goals.
  • Plan a program of studies to meet the educational requirements of your goal.
  • Develop a Student Educational Plan (S.E.P.). One of the most important counseling services offered to students is the development of an S.E.P. The S.E.P. is a roadmap of courses which students need to take to reach their educational goals. It is important for students to develop their educational plans with their counselor during their first year of college or shortly after completing a total of 15 units.
  • Choose courses appropriate to your goal.
  • Select services needed to help you while you are enrolled at the college.
  • Select one of the many Student Development courses offered by the counselors:
    • Student Development 100 - Orientation to College. This course is especially helpful to new students.
    • Student Development 101 - Freshman Seminar. This course is dedicated to ensuring students' college success and motivating their journey toward lifelong learning.
    • Student Development 125 - Career Planning. Designed to help students choose a career goal by assessing and analyzing personal values, aptitudes, skills, and interests.
    • Student Development 126 - Job Search Strategies. This course explores job search methods and skills.
    • Student Development 145 - Academic and Life Success. A course designed to increase student success in college and in personal life by developing problem-solving skills in areas such as self-motivation, study skills and techniques, and personal management skills.
    • Please check the current class schedule for these and other Student Development courses.
  • Choose the most appropriate university to transfer to and plan your courses for transfer.
  • Plan your Associate in Arts, Associate in Science degree or your Certificate.
