Text Box: Math Science Center:  The Math Science Center, located in AS103, provides free drop-in tutoring, computer-assisted instruction and audiovisual assisted instruction for students in mathematics, chemistry, physics, geology and astronomy courses. It is staffed by faculty and trained student tutors. Hours are M-Th 7:00 a.m. -  9:30 p.m.;            F 7:00 a.m. -  3:00 p.m.; and Saturday 10:00 a.m. -  2:00 p.m. Remember to bring your student ID card. for more information call X-5362 .  .  Remember to bring your student ID card. 
Physical Science Computing Lab:  The Physical Science Computing Lab is located in CR 146 It has 18 high speed Mac computer  that run math and science software. When not reserved for classes, the lab is open for drop-in use during the following hours: M 7:30a.m.-2:30p.m.;  T 7:30 am -6:00p.m.; W & Th 7:30a.m.-1:15a.m.,                             F 7:30am-12:30pm.; and Sat 10:00a.m.-4:00 p.m. Call X-3132 for more information.
 
Learning/Tutoring Center:  The Learning/Tutoring Center is located on the second floor of the Administration Building in AD 232. Materials have been placed there by faculty members for class assignments, such as videotapes, audiotapes, and videodisks. Math tapes are available for over-night check-out.  Computers are also located in the Learning/Tutoring Center. The Tutoring Center provides free extensive tutoring for you in any college subject. Please make an appointment so that the Tutoring Center can match you up with a tutor in the specific subject for which you would like assistance, or just drop by and talk with Betty Myers, the Tutoring Center Program Assistant X-5330. Hours are M-T 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., F 8:00a.m.-2:00p.m.closed on Saturday.  Remember to bring your student ID card. 
 
San Gabriel Computer Lab:  The San Gabriel Computer Lab is located in SG 129. The lab is set up for independent study of programs in math & other areas. Hours are M-Th 8:00 a.m. -  9:30 p.m., F 8:00a.m.-5:00p.m.Saturday 9:00 a.m. -  5:00 p.m. Call X-5400 or 5401 for more information.
 
Additional Help:  Other programs offered include: AMP (Alliance for Minority Participation), a collaborative program with CSUN for minority (Latino, African American, American Indian, and Pacific Islander / excluding 
Filipino) students interested in math and the sciences. It provides academic enrichment designed for students who want to complete a bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or mathematics. Contact Dr. Kolpas at X-5378; LACTE (Los Angeles Collaborative for Teacher Excellence), a program designed to increase the number of math, science and liberal art studies majors who plan to teach math or science at the elementary, junior, or senior high school levels. The Glendale Community College Scholars Science Academy, instituted to give math/science majors more specialized attention by providing a wide range of in-depth study and intellectual challenges that prepare them for future scientific exploration, incorporating technological advancements and emphasizing hands-on research. Math Anxiety:  Math 190, (Math Anxiety) is a 1 unit / 8 week class that provides students of varying mathematical backgrounds with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to be successful in math. Additionally, the Math Science Center has the following two audio-tapes available: How to Reduce Test Anxiety and How to Ace Tests by 
Dr. Paul D. Nolting. 
 
Suggested Reading:  All textbooks are available at the Reserve Desk in the library. The following books are suggested reading and can be found in our bookstore or the library: Studying Mathematics by Hudspeth and Hirsch and Conquering Math Anxiety by Arem.

MASTER Scholarship

The Glendale Community College Math and Science Transfer, Excellence and Retention (MASTER) project will increase the number of students pursuing science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines at the associate degree level. Participants will be supported via financial assistance, mentoring and support for successful transfer to a four year university, in a learning community of scholars.
