How Does Online Learning Work?
Glendale Community College uses the World Wide Web
to deliver classes in three formats:
Online classes
Students complete their coursework via the internet. Some online
classes require that students travel to campus for a class orientation
and/or exams.
Hybrid classes
Students complete some class hours each week via
the internet while other class hours takes place in an on-campus
classroom setting.
Web-enhanced classes
Students meet in the
classroom setting during all required class hours but make use of
the internet for communication, out-of-class assignments, and learning
resources.
How are Online Classes offered?
Most Glendale Community College online classes are
offered in a special online classroom management system called WebCT.
This online environment has different areas for lecture presentations,
assignments, quizzes, online discussions and email.
Instructors can post a course syllabus online, create
an online Gradebook that allows students to view their own grades
and track their assignments, create online Quizzes & Tests,
use online Communication Tools - including email and discussion
boards, offer online office hours and provide additional online
course materials.
