Q. What do I do if I can’t find a space in my
assigned parking lot?
A. If you are unable to find a space in your assigned
lot, please proceed to Lot A. Lot A is located next to the tennis
courts off of Mountain Street. A police officer is assigned to that
lot to help direct employees to lots where parking is available.
Q. Why can’t I just park in the red zone?
A. The red zones have been established for the safety
of employees, students and visitors. These red zones provide the
proper clearance for emergency vehicles responding to the college as
well as for the safe maneuvering of delivery and other vehicles
through the lot. It is illegal to park in a red zone unless directed
by a police officer in accordance with California Vehicle Code Section
22500.1 (1) (2) (3).
Q. Can employees have their vehicles stacked like the
students?
A. Yes, but only in Lot B. Employees not assigned to
an off-campus parking lot may choose to have their vehicles stacked in
Lot B. Lot B is located next to the Child Development Center and is
accessed from Mountain Street. You will be required to leave your car
keys with an attendant and should pick them up before 4:15 p.m. If you
are unable to pick them up before the indicated time, the keys will be
available at the GCC Police Station in SM153 after 4:45 p.m. Please
bring your ticket stub receipt when retrieving your keys.
Q. Does the District have a solution for employees
that cannot find a parking space?
A. Yes, the District has funded an Alternative Parking
Program that guarantees a parking space and a ride to and from the
college. If you are having trouble finding a parking space, please
consider participating in our Alternative Parking Program. The Verdugo
Park & Ride, which is less than five minutes away, has plenty of
parking and a shuttle that picks up participants every 20 minutes
throughout most of the day.

Q. What do I do if I need to leave or get to the
college when a shuttle is not scheduled?
A. Should you be arriving to the lot or need to get a
ride back to the lot during a time when a shuttle is not conveniently
scheduled, you may call the GCC Police to have a "Special Pick-up"
scheduled. It’s best if you make this arrangement a few hours in
advance, however we will try to accommodate anyone who makes the
request with at least 20 minutes notice. The number to call is (818)
551-5205.
Q. Are there other lots that I can park in and get
shuttled to and from the college?
A. Yes, other off-campus lots are also available and
are assigned on a seniority basis. For more information on
participating in the Alternative Parking Program, please email
parking@glendale.edu.
Q. Where can I get more information on the off-site
parking lots and the shuttle schedules?
A. Additional information on the lots and printable
shuttle schedules are available online at
http://www.glendale.edu/offcampuspark.htm. You may also pick up
schedules at the GCC Police Station in SM153.
Q. Other than the Alternative Parking Program, how
can I help during the "parking crunch"?
A. Here are some ways you can help:
- Form a 3 or more person carpool (one permit issued to group).
- Join or form a 5 or more person vanpool (college van provided).
- Walk or bike to work and get a $10 monthly stipend (no permit
issued).
- Use the Bus and receive 50% reimbursement up to $100 a month.

Q. I am inviting a guest to the campus, where should
I tell them to park?
A. Please submit a Permit Request Form to the GCC
Police Department and we will do our best to provide your guest with a
convenient area to park. Permit Request Forms can be obtained from the
GCC Police Station in SM153 or online at http://www.glendale.edu/intranet/forms.htm.
Q. My department/division is hosting an event on
campus and I don’t know how many people will be attending, what should
we do?
A. In order to provide parking for our employees and
students, we are asking that all events be scheduled in the evenings
and on weekends whenever possible. Our parking is severely impacted on
a daily basis and will only get worse when events increase the amount
of vehicles parking on campus. We hope that you will wait until the
parking structure is completed so that your visitors will have a
pleasant parking experience at Glendale College.

Q. When will the parking structure be completed?
A. Like most construction projects, weather and other
unforeseen circumstances can affect completion schedules. The parking
structure is currently scheduled for occupancy beginning September
2007.
Q. I come a few minutes before my class starts and I
never find a parking space. What should I do?
A. We recommend that students coming to class
between 9:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. arrive at least one hour before their
class starts.
Stacked Parking
Q. What is stacked parking?
A. Stacked parking is a form of assisted parking.
Customers are directed to park in regular parking stalls first. Once
the stalls are filled, parking attendants direct students to park
behind other parked cars.
Q. Why am I sometimes directed to another lot when I
can see available spaces?
A. If you see an open spot in a stacked lot, it may be
open because the attendants are in the process of moving cars from the
aisles and into spaces to try and create more room to stack vehicles.
Q. Why do I have to leave my car keys with the
attendant?
A. The attendant needs your car keys so that they can
move your car to let the one you’re blocking out.
Q. Should I give the parking attendant my entire key
chain?
A. No, only give them the keys to open and turn on
your car. If your vehicle has a "valet" key, then that’s the best key
to give them.
Q. I leave valuables in my car, are they safe?
A. The parking attendants are insured and bonded,
however, we recommend that you not leave valuables in your vehicle.
