Social Sciences Division
Welcome to the Social Sciences Division, the largest academic
division on campus! We hope you make yourself comfortable and
browse through our website. You will be able to find all of our
highly credentialed and excellent instructors, their office hours and
contact information, and even some of their personal web pages.
What is the Social Sciences Division?
We are an academic division including the following disciplines:
Anthropology, Economics, Ethnic Studies, Geography, History,
Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and Social
Science. Courses are designed to support the college mission by
providing opportunities for learning that might develop a person’s
global awareness and appreciation, communication, reasoning, critical
thinking, personal responsibility, information competency, and
knowledge application.
Want to know what makes humans so different (or similar) to other
mammals? Take an Anthropology course!
Ever wondered why people always face the doors when crammed into an
elevator? Sociology may be just what you’re looking for.
Think knowing about history is the best way not to repeat it? You
get the point!
The Social Sciences Division offers classes to make your time at
Glendale College both educational and interesting! If you have any
questions, feel free to stop by our office in San Rafael, room 310
between the hours or 8am and 4pm, or call 818.240.1000 ext. 5454.
