Electronics and Computer Technology 114 provides students with classroom and laboratory experience in current and emerging networking technologies. This course meets current industrial and occupational requirements. Instruction includes safety, networking, network terminology and protocols, network standards, Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), Open System Interconnection (OSI) models, cabling, cabling tools, routers, router programming, star topology, Internet Protocol (IP) addressing, and network standards. Emphasis is given to use of decision-making and problem-solving techniques in applying science, mathematics, communication, and social studies concepts to solve networking problems. Additionally, students analyze recent local, state, and federal safety, building, and environmental codes and regulations.(8 weeks). Lecture 4.5 hours, laboratory 4.5 hours.

 

Prerequisite: Electronics and Computer Technology 212 or equivalent.
