Transfer students are strongly advised to complete as many
preparatory courses as soon as possible for their major before enrolling
at UC San Diego. Preparing well for the major helps students move
efficiently toward graduation.
1. Transfer students should have completed eight of
the following courses (or equivalent) at the time of transfer.
2. A student's best six grades from the eight courses
listed will be used to calculate a GPA which must be at least 2.5.
3. Students must meet with a Division of Biological
Sciences staff advisor during their first quarter at UCSD.
4. Any student who lacks the appropriate
course(s) or GPA requirement will have three-quarters in which to
make up the deficiency.
5. Students that do not meet these standards will be
dropped from the major.
Students must still complete the full sequence of math, chemistry and
physics including labs as shown below to complete the requirements for
UCSD's Division of Biological Sciences.

NOTE: THE FOLLOWING UPPER DIVISION
CHEMISTRY REQUIREMENTS MAY BE TAKEN AT A COMMUNITY
COLLEGE. IF COMPLETED AT A
COMMUNITY COLLEGE, STUDENTS STILL MUST
MEET UPPER DIVISION GRADUATION
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COLLEGE AT UCSD.
Chem 105 and 106 are not required for
Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution but they are prerequisites
for many upper-division Biology courses.
