Keys to College Success
To find out how, come to the Keys to College Success Workshops, part of the Learning Center’s regular workshop series in AD 232!
Tuesday, January 14, 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. - Keys to College Success Workshop #1: Expanding Your Brain
In this workshop, students will learn about how our brain develops new neural pathways when we learn new skills and how practicing those new skills can make those pathways stronger.
Thursday, January 16, 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. - Keys to College Success Workshop #2: Learning to Succeed
This workshop focuses on the concept that it's important to work smarter, not just harder, and that working smarter means finding good strategies and being willing to ask for help from others.
Tuesday, January 21, 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. - Keys to College Success Workshop #3: Growing Your Mindset
In the third workshop, students will learn about the difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset and how cultivating a growth mindset can increase your chances of succeeding.
Thursday, January 23, 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. - Keys to College Success Workshop #4: Thinking About Thinking
Students in this workshop will learn about how metacognition, thinking about their own thinking, can help them study better and face challenges in learning.
Tuesday, January 28, 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. - Keys to College Success Workshop #5: Succeeding by Failing
Contrary to conventional wisdom, failure is not the opposite of success, but an inherent part of it. In this workshop, students will learn how to see failure as an opportunity instead of an obstacle.
The workshops are presented as a series of five, but you don’t have to take all five. In addition, the workshops can be taken in any order and in any combination of days and times that work for you.
