In honor of Native American Heritage Month, Samuel Lopez, of the San Gabriel Band of Mission Indians Gabrieleno-Tongva tribe, will facilitate a presentation on the Tongva people, their history, their present, and significance of land acknowledgments.
Samuel Lopez is the Development Director of the San Gabriel Band of Mission Indians. With a diverse background in land restoration, entertainment, and undergraduate admissions, he brings a unique blend of environmental stewardship and community engagement to his work. As a dedicated member of the Tongva Land Stewardship Crew, he actively cares for the land while supporting his community through educational presentations and events that foster connection, awareness, and shared responsibility.

Join GCC’s own Film and Media Arts Instructor, Carley Steiner, for an on-campus event celebrating short films. A curated series of short films by Indigenous Filmmakers will be screened, followed by a discussion to think critically about the storytelling techniques, cultural influences, and historical contexts.
