Nordic Yggdrasil. Odin’s Ravens. Helm of Awe. Web of Wyrd. These are not just idle mentions of Nordic faith that Harrison Schofield enjoys engaging in but just a handful of the 23 tattoos that include two sleeves, full right side ribs, thigh and upper chest, shoulder and upper back.
The colorful artwork is almost a road map of Schofield’s life that began with influences derived from growing up without a father and falling under the positive tutelage of lacrosse coaches who were former Marines and filled the parental role for him.
That road map has led Schofield to Glendale College, as an accounting and business major who has been accepted to Cal State Long Beach and who views his experience at GCC as a turning point in his life.
Schofield came to Glendale after two tours in Afghanistan as a Greenside Corpsman attached to the U.S. Marine Corps. “GCC has been an extremely rich environment of learning,’’ he said. “Every single teacher I have taken has instilled in me useful and great curiosities that I will take with me everywhere I venture.’’
