Institutional Effectiveness

Institutional effectiveness is an ongoing, College-wide process of planning and outcomes assessment for the purpose of documenting that the College is achieving its mission statement and Educational Master Plan goals.

LO Committee approved the use of the Nichols Model. The adoption of this model will help Glendale College "close the loop" and help us better understand assessment results.

The "5-column model" is broken into 5 main steps:

  1. Mission and Goals- development of mission statement, institutional, program, student services and student learning outcomes.
  2. Intended Outcomes- what will the student think, feel, know or be able to do as a result of a given education experience.
  3. Means of Assessment and Criteria- what are the criteria for success and what tools will be used to establish and measure success.
  4. Summary of Data- summarize the findings and how close were your results to the criteria of success.
  5. Use of Results- what does the data tell you about the process, what do you need to improve and will resources help create a more successful result.
