Faculty and Staff: Grants from external agencies help GCC fulfill its mission. Follow the checklist below to obtain GCC approval to submit a grant application. Applications that do not follow these steps will not be submitted. (Note that this process does not apply to internal grants such as the Glendale College Foundation grants or ASGCC Campus Project Support grants, or to projects funded by GCC categorical programs such as Student Equity and Achievement.)
Checklist for Obtaining Approval to Apply for External Grants (Faculty and Staff)
Except for unusual and emergency situations, please allow up to 30 days for review and action on the request for approval. It is essential to begin the process as early as possible.
|1. Initial Notification||When you intend to apply for a grant, the first step for GCC approval is to email the name of the grant and a link to the funder's grant page to GCC's Dean of Research, Planning, and Grants, Ed Karpp, at firstname.lastname@example.org. After initial notification, you will receive the Grant Summary Sheet to fill out, as well as information about the next steps in the approval process.|
|2. Grant Summary Sheet||Approval to apply for a grant depends on the Grant Summary Sheet, which collects information about the proposed project, the funding source, and space, staffing, technology, and equipment requirements. As soon as possible, complete the sheet and return it to Ed Karpp. It will be distributed to the appropriate Vice President, the appropriate division chair, the appropriate dean, the Grants Advisory Committee, and the managers of IT and Facilities for feedback.|
|3. Vice President Approval||Approval to submit the grant application will come from the appropriate Vice President after discussion with Administrative Exec.|
|4. Application Submission||After final GCC approval, the grant application may be submitted to the funder.|
