Dr. Tobin Sparfeld has taught at Glendale Community College since 2015. Tobin has also sung with many ensembles including the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, Seraphic Fire, and the St. Louis Children’s Choirs. He has sung under the batons of conductors such as Leonard Slatkin, Franz Welser-Möst, Helmuth Rilling, and Michael Tilson Thomas.

Dr. Sparfeld received his DMA in Conducting from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, where he studied with Dr. Jo-Michael Scheibe and Dr. Joshua Habermann and studied voice with Professor David Malis. He was also an assistant conductor of the Civic Chorale of Greater Miami and was the Assistant Music Director of the Miami Children’s Chorus.  He has taught at Millersville University of Pennsylvania and the head of the Music Division at Los Angeles Mission College, and as an Instructor at Principia College.

Tobin holds a master’s degree in voice from Illinois State University and also received an Artist Teacher Diploma from the Choral Music Experience Institute led by Dr. Doreen Rao. Since 2024 Tobin has been involved in Resonant, a 12-voice choir of professional singers based in Glendale, and remains active as a baritone soloist.
