Noncredit New Student Checklist

Steps to Becoming a Student

One


STEP 1. APPLICATION
- Apply to Continuing Education (Noncredit) by completing the easy, two-part, online application below. You will need an email account prior to applying.

Don't have an email account? Only if you do not already have an existing email, click HERE to learn how to create a free gmail account.

APPLY TO NONCREDIT NOW

  • First, on OpenCCC, create a NEW User Account if you are applying online for the first time or Log in as a Returning User if you have previously applied online.
  • Next, Click on the Begin Noncredit Application for Glendale Community College.
    • Answer all questions completely and verify all information you have entered
  • Finally, once you complete and submit the application, be sure to click the Finish link.

Check your personal e-mail account for an email from OpenCCC Apply.

Once your application is submitted, it will be processed and you should receive a second email with your Student ID from GCC within 2 hours

If you have not received your ID, please contact the counseling office at ext. 5055

 

Application Assistance

If you have problems filling out the application or enrolling in a class, please come to the Garfield Campus Welcome Center at MP 125 or the Career and Counseling Center at MP 221.

You must fill out the application in English, however, we have provided step-by-step instructions in Armenian and Spanish.

STEP 2.  ASSESSMENT - Sign up for and complete an assessment, if you are one of the following:

  • ESL Student- Garfield Campus TR200 or Verdugo (Main) campus SF 112
  • High School Diploma (HSD) Student - Garfield Campus MP 211
  • GED or HiSET student - Garfield Campus MP 221
  • Adult Basic Education (ABE) Student - Garfield Campus MP 211

NOTE: If you are a Short-Term Vocational/Office Business Technology (OBT), Parent Education or Lifelong Learning student you do not need to take an assessment.

STEP 3. COUNSELING - New Student Orientations and Student Education Plans (SEPs)

New Student Orientation 

  • Please call (818) 240-1000 ext.5035/5055 or visit MP 221 to find out when the next New Student Orientation will be
  • Attend a New Student Orientation

Student Education Plan

  • Sign up in MP 221 for an appointment with an Academic and/or Career Counselor to complete a Student Educational Plan
  • Attend your SEP appointment in MP 221. (Bring your assessment test results with you if you have them).

Walk-in counseling also available and welcomed!

STEP 4REGISTER FOR CLASSES - Register for your class online through MyGCC by using your GCC ID# and password. For help, watch the videos below or click here to view the process step-by-step as a PDF.

STEP 5. STUDENT EMAIL - Activate your GCC Student Email through MyGCC.

Activating your student email allows you to keep updated about our registration dates and new courses, use Canvas for your online classes, and to email your instructors.

Once your Student Email is set up, you are now ready to attend class using Canvas once your Academic Session begins.
