All students who receive financial aid are responsible for understanding and following the Terms and Conditions. Not reading this policy does not remove your responsibility.
The Terms and Conditions items may change based on federal and state financial aid regulations. The information below is not listed in any particular order.
We encourage all students to review this policy at least once each year.
General Requirements
Financial aid for any academic year depends on the availability of funds.
You must reapply and re-establish eligibility for financial aid each award year.
If you receive funds from outside sources for educational expenses (such as scholarships, fee waivers, Vocational Rehabilitation assistance, etc.), those funds must be coordinated with your financial aid.
Coordinating outside resources may change the type or amount of financial aid you receive from Glendale Community College (GCC).
If you receive a Pell Grant, you are limited to a lifetime maximum of six years of eligibility, which is equivalent to 600%.
By accepting financial aid, you authorize Glendale Community College (GCC) to automatically apply your financial aid funds to enrollment fees, mandatory fees, and other college-related educational expenses within the current academic year.
When financial aid funds become available, they will first be applied to your student account to pay mandatory enrollment fees, required college fees, and other educational expenses owed to Glendale Community College (GCC) within the current academic year.
If your financial aid disbursement does not cover your full balance, you are responsible for paying the remaining amount.
Any past-due balance from previous academic years at Glendale Community College (GCC) remains your responsibility.
Financial aid can only be paid if you are enrolled in classes during the semester(s) listed on your award letter and you meet all other disbursement requirements.
Financial aid awards are typically based on full-time enrollment. Your payment may be adjusted if you are enrolled part-time.
If you are on an approved financial aid contract, only the course(s) listed in the contract are eligible for financial aid.
Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loan Requirements
You must be enrolled in at least six (6) units during the loan period to receive loan funds.
You must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements each term.
Starting July 1, 2026, loans are subject to loan proration based on the number of your combined units for the academic year at the time of disbursement.
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Requirement
Completing at least 66.67% of all attempted units.
Maintaining the required cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA).
Completing your degree within the maximum time frame allowed for financial aid.
Withdrawal and Repayment Requirements
If you withdraw from classes after receiving financial aid, you may be required to repay funds based on the Return to Title IV calculation.
Your future financial aid eligibility may be affected if you do not meet SAP requirements.
Additional Requirements
You may only receive financial aid from one school at a time during the same enrollment period.
The Office of Financial Aid at Glendale Community College (GCC) reserves the right to review, adjust, or cancel financial aid at any time due to changes in your financial situation, eligibility, or funding availability.
Your financial aid may be canceled or adjusted if an error occurred when determining your eligibility or award amount or disbursed amount, whether the error was made by you or by the Office of Financial Aid at Glendale Community College (GCC).
By receiving financial aid, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
