Out of 131 nominations and 53 semi-finalist, all nominees were selected as part of an exceptional group recognized for their impact, leadership, and dedication to the Glendale Community College community.

Qualifications & Nomination Form
This prestigious award acknowledges ten current Glendale Community College students who excel academically, participate in leadership activities, and demonstrate commitment to a goal or purpose. Students are honored and recognized for their outstanding achievements as a Students of Distinction.
From the ten finalist, two students are selected by a committee of students, faculty, and ASGCC Advisor for the J. Walter Smith and Elsie Bishop Student of the Year awards.

The minimum qualifications to win the Student of Distinction Awards are:
- Presently enrolled in a minimum of 6 units;
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better;
- Completed at least 30 units at the time of nomination;
- Outstanding student leadership and participation in campus activities for at least two semesters (leadership and participation can be defined broadly beyond involvement in a club or a title)
