Overview of Lab
The CAI Lab features software designed to help students practice their skills in math, reading, and writing. Students may work on a series of lessons that specifically address individual needs as recommended by instructors, or they may use the diagnostic tools to determine which skills need improvement. Although instructors often assign lab work to reinforce skills taught in class, any currently enrolled student may drop in to use the lab. College credit mini-courses in basic vocabulary and grammar (English 182 and 183) are also available.
Word processing/printing is not available.
- Internet Explorer
The CAI Lab is open to currently enrolled students. Computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis. You may be asked to leave the lab if another student needs access to Passkey or WebCT and you are using the internet.
A GCC student I.D. card or another form of photo identification is required to use the lab. When checking in, please give your I.D. card to the aide and tell him/her the class for which you want credit. Checking in is very important; it is how we keep track of your hours in the lab, so you can get credit for your classes. If you decide to do lessons for another class while working in the lab, please tell the aide at the front desk in order to get the credit for that class.
Internet access is only available for academic research or specific websites as assigned by instructors.
- No food or drinks
- No cell phones
- Do not access pornography, games, chat rooms, or social networking sites like MySpace or Facebook.
- All cheating will be reported to instructors.
- Students must exit the lab at the scheduled closing time.
- Students will be held responsible for any damage caused to hardware or software.
Computers are remotely monitored.
By signing into the lab, students affirm they have read and understand these policies, which are posted in the lab. Violation of lab policies is grounds for ejection/suspension from the lab.
