The Student Outreach Services (SOS) staff will help you with your general enrollment questions.
Admissions & Records
It is to the student's benefit to repeat a class in which he/she received a grade of D or F in order to raise the GPA. In order to satisfy major requirements, and General Education Requirements for CSU Breadth and IGETC, the student must have a minimum of “C” grade in all courses.
If you received a grade of D or F in a course, you may enroll in the course again. After you successfully complete the course, you should fill out the “Request to Count the Higher Grade” and submit it to the Office of Admissions and Records so the original grade of D or F will not be calculated in your grade-point average.
I applied to Glendale and have not received my student ID yet, how long will it take for me to receive it?
Please allow up to 24 hours (excluding weekends and holidays) to process your admissions application. You will receive an email that will contain your GCC ID# and information on accessing MyGCC your personal student portal.

- I requested to send my transcript after summer session to my university. I want to know if the transcript was sent or not and how can I find out?
You can contact Admissions and Records at (818) 240-1000 Ext. 5910 to verify if your transcript was sent. When will my enrollment date for the current semester be posted? Also when will the registration period begin for the current semester?

It is not necessary to buy your books before school starts, but if you wish to buy them before hand, that is not a problem.

Classes
I am a new student but I am on the waitlist for all my classes, where can I access open classes?
The class schedule is a search-based system. You must specify the term and subject for the
class(es) you are searching for.Here is some helpful instructions.
For current class listings, go to our online class schedule.
A printed class schedule is also available.
- In order to enroll on the waitlist for a class, first you put the class in your shopping cart on MyGCC, then you click on the class name and course number (which will be in blue text), and then you check the small square box that says “Waitlist if class is full”, and then you will be able to enroll on the waitlist, but only if the waitlist for that class is not full.
Counseling
Academic counseling appointments and drop-in will be conducted remotely either by phone, email, or online. In person counseling services are available Monday - Thursday, 10:00am to 4:00pm, Friday, 9:00am to 1:00pm.

During your first semester at Glendale Community College, you need to make an appointment with a counselor to have a Student Educational Plan (SEP) prepared. An SEP is an outline of all your general education, major, prerequisite and elective classes related to your personal educational goal, as well as the graduation requirements. Once a counselor completed your SEP you will be able to view your SEP in your “My Planner” in your MyGCC.
Take advantage of the Career Center to assist you in selecting a career goal or major if you are undecided.

Drop a Class
As a student, you are responsible (not the instructor) for withdrawing from class(es) in which you are officially enrolled. The student should drop the class using MyGCC. If you fail to attend a class in which you are officially enrolled and do not drop the class, you may receive a failing grade. If withdrawal from a full-term course occurs within the first two weeks of the semester, no grade will be recorded on your permanent academic record. If you withdraw from a full-term course between the third week of instruction through the end of the tenth week of instruction, you will receive a grade of "W" on your permanent record. You may not drop or withdraw from classes after the end of the tenth week of instruction. Be sure to check the "Important Dates" in the class schedule or in your student portal - MyGCC.
Deadlines vary for short term classes.
Email
You activate your email through your MyGCC account. When you login in to your MyGCC click on the link that says I want to activate my email. Then after that you will see your assigned student email and a temporary password, that you use to login in through www.gmail.com.

Financial Aid
I am enrolled in classes but I have not paid for them yet since my financial aid is still processing. How long do I have to pay for them before they are dropped?
You have seven business days (not including weekends) to pay for your classes.

Grade

GCC offers a High School Equivalency Test Preparation Program but at their Garfield Campus Room Mariposa Building (MP 211)

Medical Billing Orientation

Noncredit
First, you need to submit a noncredit application, here is the noncredit online application:
After you submit the application you will receive an email with a student ID number to register for noncredit class(es).

Parking
The parking permit cost is $75 for the fall or spring semesters and $45 for the winter and summer semesters.

Resubmit Application
You need to resubmit a GCC application if you did not take any classes in the previous semester.

Test
Community Colleges do not look at the Act or SAT scores, and therefore you are required to take the Math and English Assessment tests.

To Do List
- I have a question about the “To Do List,” if I don’t turn in the paper work on the due date am I still able to turn them in on another date?
Turn in your paperwork as soon as you can to the department that is requesting them, even if the due date has passed.
Transcript

EMAIL: ARDocs@glendale.edu a copy of your Driver License/ID or Photo Identification and we'll email your unofficial transcript to you within 48 – 72 hours (excluding weekends and holidays). Please include your GCC ID number in your email request.
Transfer
I want to transfer from another community college to GCC. Do I have to bring my transcript?
All students at GCC are eligible to enroll directly into transfer level math and English courses
Bring your unofficial transcript to a counselor, in order for them to clear any prerequisites and prevent you from retaking classes you may have completed.

Units
- 19 units for each Fall and Spring semesters
- 10 units for Summer session
- 8 units for Winter intersession
Students wishing to take more than 19 units during the Fall and Spring semester or more than 8 units during a winter or 10 units during summer session must obtain approval from the Director of Admissions & Records by submitting a Unit Overload form.

Veterans
The Veterans Resource Center is an informational center that can assist with any questions regarding Veterans educational benefits at GCC, as well as a great opportunity to meet with other Veterans and talk about their goals. Veterans can also join the Veteran's Association Club.
