WHAT IS JUMP START?
Jump Start is an early college enrollment opportunity allowing high school students the opportunity to take college classes at Glendale Community College, while still enrolled in high school. (It is important to note that Jump Start classes are not designed to replace high school classes. GCC grants only college credit for Jump Start classes.)
WHO CAN ATTEND?
Any high school student who is making satisfactory progress towards high school graduation is eligible to apply and enroll in classes at GCC. Students must have cumulative 2.0 GPA (Beginning Winter 2020, minimum GPA and transcript will no longer be required)
HOW MANY UNITS CAN I TAKE?
Fall and Spring semester - Jump Start student can take up to 6 units
Summer and Winter sessions - Jump Start student can take up to 3 units;
If students are interested in taking more units that allowed, they can petition to enroll in more courses through Admissions & Records by filling out this unit overload authorization form.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
GCC waives the tuition & student fee for eligible CA residents. A free parking permit is provided to students with a current driver's license. (*Non-Resident Fees may apply)

HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?
You may contact Student Outreach Services at 240-1000 ext. 4SOS (4767), an Outreach staff member will assist you with enrollment information and will answer all of your questions.
*If you are no longer a Jump Start student (attending GCC and High School at the same time) and have GRADUATED; you must RE-SUBMIT a new online admission application and change your status to a high school graduate. Make sure to input your GCC ID number when reapplying.
